Fantasia Barrino has added her name to the list of shrinking “American Idol” contestants (see Jennifer Hudson). The R&B singer has successfully lost 30 lbs. While Fantasia had previously been a svelte size 6, since leaving “American Idol,” her poor eating habits inflated her wardrobe to size 12.
Fantasia had signed up for the Broadway run of “The Color Purple.” With a crazy work schedule, she didn’t put much thought into her diet. Fantasia often indulged in ice cream and fried chicken. After “The Color Purple” had run its course, Fantasia decided to turn her life around.
She enlisted in a weight loss boot camp in Georgia, where she worked out for up to two hours daily. The boot camp provided Fantasia with a balanced diet that focused on veggies and lean proteins, like grilled fish. This program helped Fantasia lose the extra 30 lbs., and it’s been rumored that the singer has been using a meal delivery service to keep them off.
Unfortunately, barely a year following her successful weight loss, Fantasia signed up to portray gospel singer Mahalia Jackson in a film. She voluntarily gained about 45 lbs. for the role. If Fantasia decides to use her preferred meal delivery service to lose the weight… again… she’ll likely eat a varied diet that features lean protein, whole grains, and plenty of veggies.
