While in the White House, Bill Clinton’s diet provided plenty of fodder for late night TV comedians. He was notorious for gobbling down heaps of barbecue, jalapeno burgers, and multiple pork chops in one sitting. Unsurprisingly, he was diagnosed with heart disease and underwent a quadruple bypass. But surgery wasn’t enough to reverse the heavy damage that years of bad eating took on his health. Bill Clinton’s solution was a vegan diet. Vegan diets are extremely low in fat and heart-healthy (when planned properly – use Dr. Gullo’s techniques for meal planning). Bill stuck to his new vegan diet and found himself 24 lbs. lighter and in much better health. Taking care of your health is much like driving a car: you’ll get what you put into it. If you buy faulty, used parts and add really cheap oil, it’s probably going to break down pretty soon. Sometimes, you need a complete overhaul and a new transmission. It might be a little difficult to cope with at first, but your body will thank you for it. To get started, check out this list of Bill Clinton’s favorite vegan foods.
