Pop princess Ciara has sold millions of albums, but she doesn’t let the pressures of Hollywood get under her skin. In the past, she has tried crash diets, like the one that instructs dieters to consume nothing but water laced with lemon juice and cayenne pepper. Ciara quickly discovered that starving herself just didn’t suit her.
These days, the Texas native’s approach to meal planning includes numerous small meals scattered throughout the day to keep her stomach satisfied. Ciara is a grazer who eats a high-protein diet. Unlike some dieters who emphasize protein, Ciara also makes sure she eats complex carbohydrates in the form of whole grains and veggies, along with fruit for antioxidants.
She’s also not afraid to indulge now and then. Ciara enjoys pasta, but she chooses whole grain noodles over refined white pasta. She might also stir in some ground turkey instead of ground beef to keep the calorie count down. Ciara also admits to eating ice cream and French fries now and then. We’d recommend indulging in some frozen yogurt with fresh fruit mixed in. A healthier swap for French fries would be baked sweet potato slices lightly drizzled with olive oil.
When Ciara sticks to her meal planning, she usually eats a whole grain pancake for breakfast, paired with some fruit and egg whites. She often eats a lean steak for lunch, along with a baked potato and some green vegetables, like broccoli. Baked potatoes contain less fat than French fries, but a healthier choice would be quinoa, a high-protein grain.
Ciara also sometimes eats half of a turkey sandwich with lettuce for a mid-afternoon snack. Her other snacks, before and after lunch, are typically fresh fruit. When she’s not eating pasta for dinner, Ciara often enjoys grilled chicken or fish, along with brown rice and plenty of assorted vegetables, like string beans.
Ciara preps for her time on stage with dance practices. She also puts in her time at the gym. Ciara prefers working out to upbeat pop music, and she also works with a trainer to help keep her motivated. Ciara typically hits the gym about five to six times per week for an hour. She does plenty of cardio, but she also focuses on strength training. In addition to using light weights, Ciara does a few different types of ab exercises, like crunches, along with plenty of squats and lunges to help tone her muscles.
